So if you have another class other than druid, those classes must be with one level of each other or you take the 20 xp penalty. So for the saving throws only just unlock the passive feat as a paladin and then go for CoT. It boost saving throws (ST) every other level and gives some feats - the paladin boost to ST is connected to cha and is given early on. However, a few of the premium modules (WCoC, DoD and TotM) don't follow the +1/5 levels that's built into the AB/AC progression of 3.x, so characters who can self enchant (Clerics, Wizards/Sorcerers and Paladins to a lesser extent) have a much easier time than your standard melee build. On topic, pretty much anything works for the official campaigns, as long as you stay away from dex builds and casters with RDD/PM (since they don't advance caster level like PnP or the other 3.x/PF games with them).
